Who we are

Gulrót is a family motivation app for the web and for phones. It is provided by Ingvi Þór Guðmundsson, a sole trader based in Iceland ("we", "us"). You can reach us at gulrot@gulrot.is, and we reply within 3 business days.

By creating an account or using Gulrót, you agree to these terms.

Accounts and families

A family account is created by a parent or guardian, who must be an adult. Parents can add their children and invite other parents or guardians to the same family.

Parents are responsible for the child profiles they create and for the information they enter about their children. Keep your sign-in details to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has used your account.

Free in Iceland, a trial everywhere else

Gulrót is free for families created in Iceland.

Families created anywhere else get a free 14-day trial with everything included. After the trial, the children's side keeps working, but parents cannot add new tasks, rewards or children until the family has lifetime access. A family gets lifetime access in one of two ways:

• a one-time payment at the price shown on our pricing page, or
• by inviting three new families through the family's own invite link, where each of them adds a child and has at least three tasks approved, on at least two different days, within their first 14 days.

Lifetime access covers the whole family, including parents in more than one home, for as long as we offer Gulrót. It is not a subscription and never renews.

Payments

Payments are processed by Creem (creem.io), which acts as our Merchant of Record: Creem sells lifetime access to you on our behalf, collects VAT or other sales taxes where they apply, and sends your receipt. Prices include VAT where it applies.

You can get a full refund within 14 days of paying, as described in our refund policy.

Your content

What you put into Gulrót, such as names, tasks, rewards and photos, stays yours. You let us store and process it only to run Gulrót for your family. How we handle personal data is described in our privacy policy.

Using Gulrót fairly

Do not misuse Gulrót: do not try to break or overload it, get into other families' data, create accounts to game the invite route, or use it for anything unlawful. We may suspend or close an account that does.

Closing your account

You can delete your account at any time in Settings. If you are the only parent in your family, the family and its data are deleted with it. Deleting an account does not by itself refund a payment; see the refund policy.

Changes and availability

We keep improving Gulrót, so features may change. We aim to keep it available but cannot promise it will never be interrupted. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app or by email before the change takes effect.

Liability

Gulrót is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you have paid us. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country you live in.

Law

These terms are governed by Icelandic law. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law where you live, and you can bring a claim there.
